The Mandarin Lights Azalea is a deciduous mounded growing shrub that is extremely hardy. The bright mandarin orange blooms boldly appear in early spring before the green foliage shows. The shrub prefers full sun to partial shade, moist well-drained, humus-rich, and acidic soil. During the summer protect this plant from harsh direct hot sun. Keeping the roots cool with mulch and pruning to provide shape along with an acid-based fertilizer after flowering is the best care. It is great as an accent, for beds and borders, in a container, or as a large group planting.
